The Foundation requires volunteers for the September 2005 to August 2006 volunteer year in the following fields;
24 primary school level teaching volunteers are required to work in remote village schools in Chiangmai and Maehongson provinces. The teaching terms in Thailand are from mid-October to mid-March, and from mid-May to late September/early October.
12 secondary school level teaching volunteers are required to work in District secondary schools in Chiangmai and Maehongson provinces. The teaching are similar to those mentioned above.
We require a volunteer with nursing or other qualifications to carry out a detailed Health & Hygiene Survey of 100 Karen villages in Maehongson and Chiangmai provinces. This Survey will be used to ascertain the priorities for assistance to these villages in particular and to all hill tribe villages in general. Part of the work of this professional will also be to set up a Health & Hygiene Training Programme for use by Foundation staff at village level.
We require a volunteer from the dental health profession to carry out a detailed Dental Health Survey of 100 villages in Chiangmai and Maehongson provinces. This Survey will be used to assess the problems in Dental Health & Hygiene and enable the Foundation to establish programmes in this field in co-operation with the Thai Ministry of Health.
The Foundation needs the urgent assistance of professionals in the production, sales and marketing of ethnic handicrafts, in order to provide expertise in the creation of a handicrafts cottage industry which can produce items of interest to buyers in the domestic and international markets.
The Foundation seeks the assistance of a former businessman or women with expertise in the research for and preparation of a Business Plan to establish the production, sales and marketing of international standard herbal medicine products.
We need the assistance of a professional with experience in training and management of a folk music and dance troupe.
